2007-2008Competition Schedule and Race Results provided by Southern California Speed Skating Association (SCSSA). The journey...It's a great way to get regular exercise while having a blast. Plus I've made new friends who share my life-long passion for the ice. Back in the 70s when I was a kid in Norway, short track didn't exist, only long track. It WAS my passion. But it all came to a screeching halt in one airplane-journey's move to southern CA, where it seemed no one speed skated. At age 13, I was devastated. Fast-forward 30 years, the speed skating bug hasn't let go, newcomer 'short track' is an Olympic sport, and I can't bear it anymore. I have to skate! A Web search leads me to the SCSSC where I find speed skating EVERY WEEK. Now I'm a regular. ~F Nilsen Submissions may be edited in length. |
